Eastwind becomes strategic channel partner for ApplianX

Aculab is proud to introduce Eastwind Communications Inc. as a strategic partner for the ApplianX range.

16th October 2007, Milton Keynes, UK – Aculab, a leading provider of enabling technology for the global communications market, today announced Eastwind Communications Inc. as a strategic channel partner for the distribution of the ApplianX portfolio – a range of products designed for network infrastructure roles in the converged networks of enterprises and service providers.

Eastwind will be carrying the entire ApplianX portfolio, which will include a range of voice and video IP gateways, SIP trunking gateways and media servers. Based on leading enabling technology from Aculab, ApplianX products have been designed to reduce operational costs, be simple to use and have extensive resilience features – an excellent means to integrate with and extend the life of existing TDM-based equipment.

“We’re excited to be selling the ApplianX portfolio. The initial premise gateway offerings are well-suited for service providers supporting enterprises with SIP trunking for existing PBXs and Microsoft’s Office Communications Server 2007 platform. Going forward, the infrastructure solutions that ApplianX will offer will fit well with the needs of the competitive carriers,” said Tony Agostinelli, Eastwind CEO. “Aculab has a well-earned reputation for innovation and reliability and we’re looking forward carrying the ApplianX products.”

“Aculab is very pleased to announce Eastwind as a key strategic channel partner for the North American market,” said Faye McClenahan, Head of Strategic Marketing at Aculab. “Eastwind has just the right mix of skills and experience to help customers achieve their communications objectives with the ApplianX range of ‘plug and play’ devices. Their knowledge on how to migrate enterprises from traditional and legacy PSTN networks to VoIP is a great asset.”

The ApplianX IP Gateway and ApplianX Gateway for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 are the first ApplianX products to be released. Over 80 network and PBX inter-working protocols are supported by both gateways, including DPNSS and Q.SIG. High availability is achieved through the replication of components that are critical or prone to failure, such as dual IP traffic interfaces; dual hot swap power supplies. These are the only gateways to include all these parts as standard. In addition, the ApplianX Gateway for Microsoft includes the Mediation server function of the Office Communications Server, meaning only a gateway needs to be purchased and not an additional server to house the Mediation server software.
